Renowned craft school opens its doors

Boston—One of the nation's oldest schools of craftsmanship, Boston's North Bennet Street School, will hold its annual open house this fall. Visitors will have the opportunity to take an up-close look at programs ranging from jewelry making and repair to piano technology and bookbinding.

Budding artisans will have a chance to get a better feel for the school's short workshops or full-time programs, and those who are simply curious will get a behind-the-scenes glimpse by watching and interacting with students and instructors at work in classes such as furniture and cabinetmaking, violin making, carpentry and more.

Finished craft pieces from students and alumni will be available for purchase in the school's gallery.

The 122-year-old school will open its doors to the public on Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission to the event is free.
