Gold-threaded Diana dress on display in Sydney

"Diana: A Celebration," an exhibition chronicling the life of the late Princess of Wales, features her wedding gown, veil and gold, suede and lace shoes. In addition to its gold threading, the dress features an 18-karat gold and diamond horseshoe, which was used to hold the princess' "something blue" in place.

The art handlers who accompanied the dress to Australia told the Sydney Morning Herald that the gown took four to five months to complete. The precious cargo traveled to its destination in a hermetically-sealed crate and is being prepared for the exhibition, which will run at the Powerhouse Museum in Darling Harbour, from Sept. 29 to May 4, 2008.
