Bonhams sale to feature Steve McQueen memorabilia

This turquoise and silver bracelet was gifted from actor Steve McQueen to producer David Foster, and will be included in Bonhams and Butterfields' Nov. 14 sale.

Los Angeles--Unique motorcycles and motorcars will be the focus of a Nov. 14 auction held by Bonhams and Butterfields, but jewelry will also get a spotlight.

A men's silver and turquoise bracelet will be included among the items in the auction house's annual "Classic California" sale. Actor Steve McQueen, an avid motorcycle and racecar enthusiast, gave the bracelet to David Foster, producer of the 1972 film The Getaway.

McQueen has quite a legacy in the racing world. Prior to his role in The Getaway, his filmography included a starring role in Bullitt, a film featuring a famed auto-chase scene in which McQueen did much of his own stunt driving. McQueen also drove in the racing film Le Mans, as well as handled a Triumph motorcycle through much of The Great Escape.

The bracelet McQueen gifted to Foster features five raised turquoise stones set into silver. An inscription engraved on the inside reads: "For David, Love Steve," on the first line, followed by "The Getaway" on a second line.

Also included among the items in the sale is a Heuer mounted stopwatch set that was used in Le Mans.

The Nov. 14 Classic California sale will take place at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.
