Las Vegas--International auction house Bonhams and Butterfields will host a fall auction of "Salon Jewelry" featuring a distinctive group of diamond and platinum jewelry, signed jewels and watches.

Named for the famed salons of Europe, the Sept. 21 sale will be held at The Venetian in Las Vegas, with 400 lots expected to hit the auction block.

Up for auction are timepieces from the Clavius Collection as well as property from a private Las Vegas collection, including works by Bulgari, Cartier, Hermes, Patek Philippe, Ruser, Tiffany and Co., and Van Cleef and Arpels.

Highlights for the September sale include several lots of extravagant, Vegas-style gold, as well as a three-stone diamond ring and a marquis-cut diamond solitaire ring, each estimated to fetch between $4,000 and $6,000; a vintage multicolor star sapphire, star ruby and diamond flower-bouquet brooch estimated between $2,500 and $3,500; a sapphire and diamond ring estimated between $3,000 and $5,000; and a retro-chic ruby and diamond bracelet estimated to bring in between $3,000 and $4,000.

The auction house said in a media release that the Clavius Collection is undoubtedly one of the finest single-owner collections of wristwatches to be featured at public auction in Las Vegas. Watch highlights include a very fine and rare 18-karat gold Ulysse Nardin automatic hour repeating wristwatch estimated between $25,000 and $35,000; a limited-edition 18-karat gold fly-back Glashutte chronograph wristwatch estimated between $14,000 and $18,000; and an 18-karat white gold Roger Dubuis bi-retrograde perpetual calendar chronograph chronometer wristwatch with moon phases estimated to sell between $12,000 and $15,000.

A public preview will take place in Las Vegas from Sept. 4-7 and on Sept. 21 at The Venetian in Las Vegas; from Sept. 11-13 at Bonhams and Butterfields' Los Angeles offfice; and from Sept. 18-19 at the auction house's San Francisco location.

Previews for the Salon Jewels auction will be held in conjunction with previews for Bonhams and Butterfields' "Natural History" sale on Oct. 3 featuring a rare 66-million-year-old Tyrannosaurus skeleton.

An illustrated catalog for the Salon Jewels sale will be available for review online at Bonhams.com/us in the weeks preceding the auction.
