Stuller, Gemvision launch CounterSketch Studio

New 3-D jewelry-design platform to 'revolutionize jewelry industry,' Stuller says

October 28, 2009

Lafayette, La.--Diamond Trading Co. sightholder Stuller Inc. and Gemvision Corp. have announced the beta launch of CounterSketch Studio (CSS), a newly developed, three-dimensional jewelry-design platform.

According to a media release, CSS was first introduced in its developmental stages at various jewelry trade events over the summer. Then during the week of Oct. 12, Stuller launched a beta form of the software license to retailers.

In the release, Gemvision President Jeff High said CSS differs from sister programs, such as Digital Goldsmith and Matrix 6, by simplifying jewelry customization into four easy steps:
  • Browse pre-designed styles in the starting point inventory.
  • Make real-time, 3-D alterations using easy slider controls.
  • Send to Stuller for manufacturing fulfillment.
  • Receive the finished piece of jewelry in eight days or less.
"All indications from this beta launch confirm that CounterSketch will revolutionize the jewelry industry," Stuller Chief Executive Officer, President and founder Matthew Stuller said in the release. "We're very excited by the positive response we've received from our jewelers who have just completed the initial round of CSS training."

According to the release, CSS training sessions, held in Moline, Ill., and New York City, received rave reviews from retailer participants, including Melinda Kroeger of Keck Jewelers in Belleville, Ill.

"My first impression of the software is that it's user-friendly and not intimidating at all," Kroeger said in the release. "In fact, after our first day of training, I looked at my associate and said, 'Everyone can work this program.'"

Founded in 1970, Stuller is based in Lafayette, La., and has nine operations on three continents worldwide. The company provides a wide range of goods and services for jewelry professionals, with core product categories including: diamonds, gemstones, finished jewelry, mountings, findings, bridal jewelry, tools and supplies.

Gemvision, which was founded more than 20 years ago by a retail jeweler, is based in Davenport, Iowa, and creates CAD/CAM products for the jewelry industry.
