Need help balancing inventory?
March 21, 2008
Napa, Calif.—Buyers International Group (BIG) has introduced new software that the company says can help retailers balance inventory levels, achieve higher margins and increase sales. According to a release from BIG, the Balance to Buy system uses data from any point-of-sale program to alert retailers to aging inventory, fast-selling merchandise, best-selling price points and other data, in a logical format. BIG Chief Executive Officer Abe Sherman said in a statement that he developed the software because the real issue confronting retailers is being able to understand the balance of inventory before buying. Retailers need to be able to find the perfect balance in their product mix, get rid of aging inventory that is tying up cash flow and re-order fast-selling items, according to Sherman. "This service is a revolutionary way to look at inventory," Sherman said. "The beauty of the reporting from this system is its versatility and its simplicity. We have already spoken to buyers who are attending shows with a few sheets of very concise information rather than the reams of reports they used to drag around and sort through. Vendors are reporting that buyers on the system are showing increased sales and are simply placing smarter orders." Live, interactive demonstrations of the software are available on a regular basis online. Retailers interested in scheduling a demonstration should contact Ellen Falcinelli, BIG vice president of operations, at (707) 257-1456 to schedule a time.
