Gem Jam raises thousands for JFC

Paso Robles, Calif.--More than 400 musicians and music lovers within the jewelry industry attended the first-ever Gem Jam on Feb. 5, an industry event to benefit Jewelers for Children (JFC).

Held at The Hut during the Tucson Gem Fair in Tucson, Ariz., Gem Jam featured musical offerings spanning traditional blues/jazz ensembles, classic rock offerings, show tunes, traditional Indian love songs--even dueling didgeridoo players.

Gem Jam organizers Jack Malinowski and Marty Hurwitz said they were "pleased beyond all expectations" with the attendance at Gem Jam, as well as the quality and variety of musical talent that graced the stage at The Hut.

The event netted nearly $4,000 for JFC.

Video of the event will be available for sale through the Gem Jam Web site, GemJammin.com.

Talks are already underway for a repeat event at the 2010 Gem Fair in Tucson, as well as staging another at JCK Las Vegas in June.
