Jewelers Mutual increases registered-mail coverage

Neenah, Wis.--Just in time for the holiday season, Jewelers Mutual Insurance Co. has increased its free, automatic limits for registered mail and travel coverage to and from the post office.

U.S. commercial policyholders who are insured with Jewelers Mutual's Jewelers Block, Jewelers Standard or Pak policies are now covered up to $100,000 for registered mail and up to $125,000 for travel to and from the post office. The coverage increases became effective Dec. 1.

"We are offering this higher limit at no additional charge to encourage our insured jewelry businesses to use this safe shipping method," Commercial Lines Vice President Jeff Mills said in a media release. "Registered mail losses are significantly fewer than losses with express mail and other shipping carriers."

The free, automatic limit for registered mail was previously $50,000, and the free, automatic limit to and from the post office was $75,000.

For express mail coverage via the U.S. Postal Service, the free, automatic limit remains at $25,000.

In conjunction with the increased coverage limit, Jewelers Mutual has revised its "Shipping with Express Mail and Registered Mail" flyer, as well as its "Safe Way to Ship" poster. To request a copy of either, e-mail communications@jminsure.com, include "Shipping flyers" in the subject line and provide a full mailing address.

Also available as a benefit to commercial policyholders is a service to track lost packages. If a registered mail or express mail package fails to be delivered on time, policyholders can contact Jewelers Mutual's claim staff, who in turn can request a manual search within the post office. Requests for package search can be placed via phone, at (800) 558-6411, or by using the new Shipment Search Request on Jewelers Mutual's Web site, JewelersMutual.com.
