Industry veteran Joel Newman dies

New York--Joel Newman, a veteran industry member who spent more than 30 years in jewelry sales, passed away on Dec. 29 after a heart attack. He was 62.

Throughout his time in the jewelry industry, Newman gained numerous friends, counting colleagues in both the manufacturing and retail sectors.

Newman was most recently employed by FD Worldwide, a supplier of fine jewelry to major U.S. jewelry stores. He retired from the company in May 2008.

"Despite the sudden loss, we are comforted by the knowledge that Joel's generous, humorous and kind nature had brought much love and joy to the people he met in his professional and personal life," FD Worldwide said in a media release.

Newman's wife and two sons survive him.
