Milan, Italy--The program for the upcoming 2009 CIBJO Congress is now available on the dedicated Congress Web site, Congress2009.CIBJO.org.

Also available is the Digital Congress Binder, which contains all the agendas and relevant documents of the Congress proceedings, including the General Assembly, the CIBJO Sectors and CIBJO Commissions. In addition, those who are accompanying Congress delegates are able to review the sightseeing tours being offered.

Site visitors can also find information about Congress speakers, as well as background about the Turkish jewelry industry and the city of Istanbul.

In other CIBJO Congress news, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will attend the opening ceremony of the 2009 Congress on May 3.

Also representing the Turkish government at the opening ceremony will be Kursad Tuzmen, the country's Minister of Foreign Trade.

In April, Erdogan represented Turkey at the G-20 Leaders' Summit on Financial Markets and the World Economy to discuss the international response to the global financial crisis.

"It is a great honor to be able to host Prime Minister Erdogan at our Congress," CIBJO President Dr. Gaetano Cavalieri said in a media release. "Not only does it illustrate the great value that his government places on the economic role of the Turkish jewelry industry and trade, but it is indicative of the regard that the jewelry is held in by important world leaders.

The 2009 CIBJO Congress is being held from May 3-5 at the Sheraton Istanbul Atakoy Hotel in Istanbul, Turkey, and is being hosted by the Turkish Jewellery Association.

Members of the industry who are still interested in attending the Congress can register and book hotel rooms through the 2009 CIBJO Congress Web site, Congress2009.CIBJO.org.

CIBJO is the international jewelry confederation of national trade organizations. CIBJO's purpose is to encourage harmonization, promote international cooperation in the jewellery industry and to consider issues which concern the trade worldwide. CIBJO's chief mission is to protect consumer confidence in the industry.
