Las Vegas--The 2009 American Gem Society (AGS) Conclave will feature graduate-level business school workshops for the first time, with sessions taught by award-winning university professors and researchers.

The mission of this year's program, which will be held from April 1-4 in Chicago, is to help attendees succeed in a challenging economy. The workshops are intended to provide attendees with tools for success and profitable change.

Among the professors and researchers who will lead the sessions are: David E. Drehmer, an association professor of management and organization at DePaul University's Charles H. Kellstadt Graduate School of Business; Christopher J. Eckrich, principal of The Family Business Consulting Group and adjunct faculty member at the University of Notre Dame; and Lisa K. Gundry, an author, professor of management at De Paul's Kellstadt business school and director of The Center for Creativity and Innovation at the university.

Drehmer will present a two-hour interactive workshop, "Revisioning an Industry: Harnessing Tools That Work." The class is intended to help business owners use the shifts in today's jewelry market to their advantage. Eckrich will lead two seminars: a two-hour session titled "Family Business Succession: Making Transition Work," and a one-hour program dubbed "Non-Family Employees in Business: Roles and Opportunities." Finally, Gundry will present "Creativity and Innovation in Business," providing tools that help generate ideas and increase business-enhancing creativity.

Additional speakers during Conclave include renowned marketer, entrepreneur and bestselling author Seth Godin, who will serve as keynote speaker on Friday, April 3, and award-winning celebrity chef Jeff Henderson, a former inmate who transformed his life and became the first African-American to run a restaurant at the famed Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Henderson is known as a voice of personal and professional change, and he will lead both a presentation as well as a question-and-answer session during AGS' Titleholder Luncheon.

The four-day Conclave will take place at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, and for the first time ever, will be open to non-member retailers.

For more information or to register, contact Evelyn Ramos at (866) 805-6500 ext. 1008, eramos@ags.org, or visit the AGS' Web site, AmericanGemSociety.org and click on the Conclave logo.
