De Beers opens 11th U.S. store

De Beers' 11th U.S. store, located in Bal Harbour, Fla., opened on Dec. 16.

Bal Harbour, Fla.--Diamond miner turned retailer De Beers opened its 11th U.S. location on Tuesday with the launch of its store at the Bal Harbour Shops in Bal Harbour, Fla.

According to a release from the company, the 700-square-foot boutique will feature new collections by De Beers Creative Director Raphaele Canot, including "Talisman," "Ice on Fire" and "Radiance." The store also will include high-end jewelry and bridal.

The store's decor, keeping in line with the look of other De Beers' stores across the country, features open spaces, ebony walls and etched-glass paneling. The high display counters are approachable from all sides, giving customers a unique "side-by-side" experience when examining diamond jewelry. In addition, price points for the jewelry are displayed in the cases.

De Beers launched its retail arm, De Beers Diamond Jewellers, in 2001. The independently managed and operated company functions as a partnership between De Beers SA and luxury goods company LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton.

De Beers' first U.S. retail locations opened in 2005, with stores in New York and Beverly Hills, Calif.

In 2007, the company launched stores in Las Vegas, Houston and Washington, D.C., and, in 2008, stores in Dallas, Honolulu, San Francisco, Costa Mesa, Calif., and Naples, Fla., opened.

De Beers doesn't plan to open any U.S. stores in 2009, the company confirmed to National Jeweler.
