Past Wedding Band Weekend events have proven to be crowd-drawers for Long's Jewelers.

Boston--Long's Jewelers is putting any recession fears aside and is gearing up for its annual Wedding Band Weekend, an event that the Boston-based retailer is expecting will draw in more than 2,000 people.

The retailer said in a media release that engaged couples throughout New England have proven that a recession cannot put life on hold, and that Long's will be teaming with local businesses to support these new couples.

The Wedding Band Weekend will take place Friday, March 27 through Sunday, March 29 at the Burlington, Mass., location, with some of the world's pre-eminent bridal ring designers set to share thousands of choices in gold, platinum, diamond and custom wedding bands.

Among the designers to be featured are Memoire, Ritani and Scott Kay, in addition to many more.

Long's is also partnering with a variety of wedding professionals and other local businesses that will provide prizes to guests. Among the partners for the 2009 event are wedding cake bakery Konditor Meister, Bang and Olufsen, The Capital Grille and SOMA Spa. Additional sponsors include Excelsior Limousines and Alla Breve Flute and Guitar Duo.

"The year leading up to a wedding is one filled with numerous choices and decisions for the engaged couple," Long's Jewelers President Craig Rottenberg said in a media release. "And while many of these decisions do focus on the actual wedding day, a good number of them focus on starting a life together."
