Atlanta--The Southern Jewelry Travelers Association (SJTA) has announced the members of its 2009 Retail Advisory Board.

The SJTA membership now includes: Virginia Anderson of T.K. Anderson Jewelry in Athens, Ga.; Arnold Freda Gibbs of Arnold's Jewelers in Shelby, N.C.; Michael White of White's Classic Jewelers in Springfield, Tenn.; Gene Poole and Jamie Chandler of Hudson-Poole Jewelers in Tuscaloosa, Ala.; Brant Bateman and Lee Eskridge of LeeBrandt Jewelers in Atlanta; Terry Chandler of the Diamond Council of America in Nashville, Tenn.; William Cobb of Robinson-Barnes Master Jewelers in Pace, Fla.; Giles Dunn of Hoover Jewelers in Manchester, Tenn.; Ben and Heather Whidby of Whidby Jewelers in Madison, Ga.; and Evan James Deutsch of Evan James Ltd. in Brattleboro, Vt.

Many of the new board members gathered for the first time during the Spring 2009 Atlanta Jewelry Show, meeting over lunch on March 1 to share thoughts and suggestions for fine-tuning the buyer services the SJTA provides.

"We've brought together some of our region's premier retailers to help guide us as we develop show promotions and year-round support services for our full retail audience," SJTA Executive Director Carol Young said in a media release. "These retailers are on the front lines and help keep us focused on programs and services that can truly help industry members. Their feedback and advice are invaluable."

Also taking place during the Atlanta Jewelry Show, SJTA named Kim International Manufacturing as the winner of the "Best Booth Competition." The company was recognized for its outstanding presentation in terms of creativity, lighting, display skills and overall booth design. A panel of independent judges canvassed the show floor before choosing Kim International, and the company was presented with a special sign for passing retailers to see.

The next edition of the Atlanta Jewelry Show will take place from Aug. 8-10 at the Cobb Galleria Center. For more information, visit the show's Web site, AtlantaJewelryShow.com.
