Jewelers Mutual, DCA team on security initiative

October 16, 2009

Nashville, Tenn.--Jewelers Mutual Insurance Co. has joined the Diamond Council of America (DCA) as an associate member, and will offer its library of security information, including the online training course JM University, to the DCA for monthly distribution to its members and students.

Jewelers Mutual's virtual classroom, the JM University program, was established to educate customers and the jewelry industry about safety, security and insurance. Online courses cover such topics as "Selling with Security" and "Danger on the Road," providing tips on protecting merchandise and reducing risks associated with selling jewelry.

As for the DCA, the mission of the non-profit organization is to educate jewelry sales professionals about diamonds and gems, providing salespeople with hands-on and practical training as well as certification.

"The Diamond Council is pleased to welcome Jewelers Mutual to DCA as an associate member and is grateful for their partnership in addressing the ongoing issue of security among jewelry sales associates with DCA members and students," DCA President and Chief Executive Officer Terry Chandler said in a media release. "Through this project, we will make this vital information a top-of-mind issue for our members and students."

Patrick Drummond, vice president of sales and marketing for Jewelers Mutual, echoed the partnership's benefits, saying in the release that, "We are thrilled to be able to offer Jewelers Mutual's critical loss prevention information and education to DCA's vast network of members and students. This is truly a win-win situation."
