Designer to cast golden glow on NY Fashion Week

World Gold Council, Nasdaq open event to public

July 28, 2009
"Gold is, unquestionably, the ultimate investment," cites fashion designer Carmen Marc Valvo, who will accessorize his Spring 2010 collection with gold jewelry and accessories from a number of designers and manufacturers.

New York--Carmen Marc Valvo will accessorize his "urban jungle"-themed Spring 2010 collection with gold jewelry and accessories from a wide array of designers and manufacturers for his runway show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City.

From stackable bangles, layered chains and oversized hoops to unique statement earrings, Valvo's looks will be accessorized with gold as styled by Shaye Strager. Even the silk and suede used in the collection will be studded, embroidered and embellished with gold flourishes.

"Gold is, unquestionably, the ultimate investment. It's eternal allure has always intrigued me." Valvo said in a media release. "Fashion and accessories, at their best, bring out the poise within ourselves to take on life's challenges with stride and bring out the beauty within. Confidence is the new gold standard."

As an added twist, Valvo will debut his collection offsite from the Bryant Park Tents, opting instead to light up Times Square by splashing his show across the Fox, Nasdaq and Thomson-Reuters JumboTron screens on Sunday, Sept. 13.

Red carpet arrivals start at 6:30 p.m. for more than 300 invited guests, including celebrities, retailers, press and buyers. The runway presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on the JumboTron screens throughout the evening.

Chairs for public viewing will be set up in the traffic-free zone of Times Square, opposite the Nasdaq building, bringing the unique experience of Fashion Week to the streets.

"We are thrilled to partner once again with Carmen Marc Valvo and to be involved in bringing the excitement of New York Fashion Week to the public," says Duvall O'Steen of the World Gold Council. "Valvo's unique combination of both powerful and feminine looks will be a perfect match for the radiant beauty of fine gold jewelry."
