Panjim, India--Organizers of the IIJS Signature Goa show, which wrapped up last month, say the event concluded on "an upbeat and successful note."

Close to 1,000 visitors, including 250 international visitors and 750 from India, attended the Feb. 20-23 show, which took place at Kala Academy in Panjim, Goa's capital city.

The show also played host to 10 trade delegations, including representatives from Azerbaijan, China, Hungary, Iran, Poland, Russia, Syria, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates.

Show organizer Vasant Mehta, chairman of the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), said in a media release that the show serves as an ideal platform to forge partnerships with India's foremost jewelry manufacturers.

"A glance through the exhibits will showcase India's growing stature as a jewelry production center, an evolution which is apparent in India's creativity and designs, in manufacturing and quality standards, as also in the conduct of business," he said.

Everything from mass-produced products to couture-level designs are available at the show, providing a vast price range to suit international demands.

Mehta also said that in keeping with the GJEPC's objective of leveraging the industry's reach to international markets, it has reached agreements with China, Russia, Iran and other Commonwealth of Independent States countries for promoting Indian diamond and jewelry products in their regions.

"With exports being limited to the U.S. and Europe, India is making an endeavor to make inroads in other potential destinations," he said. "Signature is an apt platform to build such foundations and forge partnerships for times to come."
