IDS partners with JA, LJW on Web site services

July 30, 2009

New York--Online-service provider Ideal Diamond Solutions Inc. (IDS) has entered into exclusive strategic alliances with both Jewelers of America (JA) and Leading Jewelers of the World (LJW) to offer a variety of benefits to their members.

Launched in 2008, IDS offers uniquely designed online services for retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, designers and industry organizations, enabling them to build sophisticated, cost-effective and completely customizable e-commerce Web sites.

According to the company, the IDS open-source integration platform allows retailers to showcase tens of thousands of virtual products, including a robust diamond database of approximately 150,000 stones, as well as "build your own ring" technology.

IDS founder and chief executive officer Larry Chasin said the partnership between IDS and JA members will be able to affect a sea change in the jewelry industry.

"Now, more than ever, our industry needs to step up its technology to stay relevant in the new economy," Chasin said in a media release. "The IDS platform helps jewelry businesses compete with all players--online and off--with connected content, state-of-the-art programming and now industry-specific advice and guidance, thanks to our new partners at Jewelers of America."

"We've heard the call of many Jewelers of America members, who are searching for solutions to bring their businesses online but are overwhelmed by the options or technology. IDS takes the mystery out of Web site development and makes it easy for our members to stand out to consumers on the Web," JA Director of Members Services David Peters said in the release. "Plus, Jewelers of America members get the additional benefit of Jewelers of America- and Jewelry Information Center-sponsored consumer education content on their Web sites."

As for its alliance with LJW, Chasin said the LJW mark of distinction and reputation is a powerful brand name, which, when combined with the IDS Web site platform, will bring a plethora of benefits to LJW honorees.

Initial benefits include a seamless integration of LJW marketing and communication programs directly into member Web sites, consumer referrals and eventual access to the virtual inventory of LJW honoree vendors, according to IDS.

Michael C. Barlerin, LJW's executive director, said the relationship between IDS and LJW will add significant value to being an LJW honoree and will also enhance the way in which LJW presents itself to the industry.

IDS has also aligned with the Continental Buying Group, the Gemological Certification and Assurance Laboratory, IDEX Online, the Jeweler's Resource Bureau, Jewelers for Children and the Natural Color Diamond Association, among others.
