AJA names Retailer, Traveler of the Year nominees

The Woodlands, Texas--Arkansas Jewelers Association (AJA) President Brittany Adair has announced the nominees for the 2009 Arkansas Retailer of the Year and Arkansas Traveler of the Year.

Companies and individuals honored this year as nominees in the Retailer category include: T.C. and Beth Carter of Carter's Jewel Chest in Mountain Home, Faye Rodgers and Lori Blagg of Faye's Diamond Mine in Clinton, Nelson Gotay of Gotay's Gallery of Custom Jewelry Design in Jonesboro, Scott Kinard of Kinard Jewelers in Crossett, Don Overstreet of Overstreet Jewelry in Bentonville, Sissy Jones of Sissy's Log Cabin in Pine Bluff, Skinners Jewelers in Batesville, Laura Stanley of Stanley Jewelers in North Little Rock and Bill Underwood of Underwood's Fine Jewelers in Fayetteville.

Nominations for Retailer of the Year were submitted by sales individuals and companies serving the state of Arkansas. As for Traveler of the Year nominations, submissions were accepted from Arkansas Jewelers Association members.

Nominees for the Traveler category include: Dave Bonaparte of JCK Group, Larry Byers of TOLA Diamonds, Anissa Carroll of IGI, Ray Dayer of Steven Royce Diamond Design, Mark Lawin of Coast Diamond, Andy McCaulay of Chippenhook, Prakash Mehta of Interings, Trish Perdue of Shai Gut Inc., Steve Rudoff of Cedar Trading, Alon Shahar of Shahar Diamonds and Ken White of United Precious Metals.

The winning Retailer and Traveler of the Year will be announced at the AJA's 2009 70th Year Convention, taking place at the Doubletree Hotel in Little Rock, Ark.

The convention will open on Aug. 14 with a day of hospitality and golf, and seminars will take place on Aug. 15, followed that evening by the C.A.R.A.T. Awards and the announcement of the Arkansas Retailer of the Year and Traveler of the Year.

Convention directory forms for the show are now available, and the association invites guests to attend the conference and/or to advertise in the directory.
