Show news from Centurion

July 13, 2009

New York--Centurion is now accepting submissions for its 2010 Emerging Designer Awards, a competition that gives winning jewelry designers a shared exhibition space to introduce themselves and their jewelry at the high-end Tucson show.

Up-and-coming designers are invited to submit photographs of up to three pieces of jewelry that will be judged by a panel of established industry designers.

Judges will be looking for a balance between creativity, originality, function, production quality, craftsmanship/skill and the ability to sell in high-end stores.

The competition is open to all designers, regardless of experience, formal training or background in jewelry design, as long as they have not previously exhibited as a solo artist. The designers must also be able to exhibit at a trade fair and have the ability to supply high-end retailers.

"This competition gives new designers ideal exposure in front of high-end retailers and the consumer and trade press," Centurion President Howard Hauben said in a media release. "Winners will exhibit their line for the duration of the Centurion Tucson show and have the opportunity to network during show events and experiences."

Winners of the 2009 Emerging Designer Awards--Alexandra Hart, Mark Maxwell and Uwe Schlappner--received orders at the 2009 Centurion Show, and have since been featured in numerous industry publications.

Centurion 2010 takes place from Jan. 31-Feb. 2 in Tucson. The deadline for entries to the Emerging Designer Awards is Aug. 21, 2009.

Full details and entry forms can be found on the Centurion Web site, at CenturionJewelry.com/EmergingDesignerAwards.html. For more information about the Centurion Emerging Designer Awards, contact Howard Hauben at hh@centurionjewelry.com.
