Strong Israeli presence expected at Hong Kong show

Ramat Gan, Israel--The Israeli diamond industry will be out in record numbers at the upcoming Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, scheduled for March 4-8.

According to a release from the Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI), a total of 61 Israeli diamond manufacturers and exporters will be exhibiting, 41 of which will be located within the Israel Diamond Pavilion.

The strong Israeli presence at the Hong Kong show is a testament to the Israeli diamond industry's interest in growing business in Asian markets.

IDI Chairman Moti Ganz called Hong Kong, as a gateway to the Far East, a "major focus" for the Israeli diamond industry.

"For years we have looked to the Far East as a huge growth market for Israeli diamonds. Our industry, which is known for its flexibility and adaptability, is seeking now especially to expand its efforts in these markets," he said. "IDI is working hand in hand with the industry to promote these efforts."

IDI Managing Director Eli Avidar echoed these thoughts, adding that he is very optimistic about the medium- and long-term prospects for Asian markets.

"China has evolved into an independent market for luxury goods and jewelry, with a great amount of wealth being created," he said. "In the coming years, we believe that China will become an important consumer of polished diamonds, and we are focusing our marketing strategy on developing this market."

The Israel Diamond Pavilion will be located in Hall 5, Aisles D, E, F, G and Annex.

The IDI information booth will be located at 5F21 at the entrance to the pavilion.

An online mini-site, www.israelidiamond.co.il/Exhibition/index.aspx?id=8&lang=eng, enables buyers to visit the pavilion virtually before the fair. It includes contact details for all Israeli exhibitors, as well as a map displaying their location at the show.
