AboutJ 2010 to take place in Venice

Venice--"AboutJ," the Italian jewelry show organized by the Vicenza Fair, has taken place in Milan during the city's Fashion Week for the past two years, with organizers drumming up the connection between the high-end luxury jewelry show and the city as a fashion capital.

But for 2010, AboutJ is also taking an about face. The show is moving to Venice, and instead of its usual stay in February, the show will take place in May, right before the VicenzaOro "Charm" show.

It's a move that show organizers say will allow top international retailers to head to Vicenza for Charm after three days of reserved meetings in Venice, about 40 miles away.

The by-invitation-only show has in the past included an Italian who's who of jewelry designers, including the likes of Calgaro, Favero, Marco Bicego, Mattioli and Roberto Coin, among a number of highly respected others.

For the 2009 edition, a maximum of 60 Italian names and 20 international brands were selected, with each standing out for innovation and exclusivity, organizers said.

As for buyers, 250 buyers and representatives were invited from 350 international retail outlets.
