Washington--Shoppers have spent more than $12 million through CyberMonday.com this holiday season and more than $23 million since the site launched in November 2006, according to Shop.org.

In addition, the Web site had 2.4 million unique visitors on Cyber Monday alone, up from 1.5 million on Cyber Monday 2007, according to Mall Networks, which powers the site.

"CyberMonday.com has become a clearinghouse of holiday deals for shoppers, evidenced by tremendous year-over-year increases in site traffic," Mall Networks President and Chief Executive Officer Tom Beecher said in a media release. "As budget-focused shoppers head online, they use sites like CyberMonday.com to find deals and markdowns on the season's most popular products."

All of Shop.org's proceeds from items purchased through CyberMonday.com help support the Ray M. Greenly Scholarship Fund. The fund has collected more than $400,000 this holiday season and more than $800,000 since it was created less than three years ago.

The scholarship fund was established in January 2006 to provide financial support to students pursuing careers in the e-commerce industry and commemorates the life of Ray Greenly, a valued online retail industry veteran who passed away in 2005. Greenly served as the vice president of research and member services of Shop.org for almost seven years and was responsible for the management of The State of Retailing Online, the premier annual e-commerce benchmarking study, and Shop.org's membership.

Shop.org, a division of the National Retail Federation, is a leading membership community for digital retail. Founded in 1996, Shop.org's 700 members include the 10 largest retailers in the United States and more than 60 percent of the Internet Retailer Top 100 E-Retailers.
