Zale debuts online custom engagement ring service

August 11, 2009

Irving, Texas--Zale Corp. has launched The Prestige Diamond Collection, an online custom engagement ring service that gives consumers access to thousands of diamonds and settings.

According to a media release, the collection, offered exclusively at Zales.com, allows grooms-to-be to handpick and create a custom engagement ring and wedding band by choosing from 30,000 diamonds and 2,000 unique settings.

Carat weights range from 0.33 to an "unprecedented" five carats, with diamonds available in 10 shapes: round, princess, emerald, marquise, pear, oval, heart, radiant, cushion and Asscher.

Settings are offered in classic, vintage and contemporary styles, and metal choices are 18- and 14-karat white and yellow gold, platinum and palladium.

Using all of these choices, consumers can design several rings at once and virtually align them next to each other for a side-by-side comparison.

"The Prestige Diamond Collection puts the customer in the driver's seat like never before," Mary Kwan, Zale's executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, said in the release. "Zales offers an online, pressure-free experience where our customers can search and explore their ring choices from the comfort of their home. When they finalize their selection, customers will have the confidence of knowing they handpicked the perfect ring, and they will have the security of knowing that they shopped with Zales, a leader in the diamond business for 85 years."

Custom rings take two to four weeks for delivery, the release states. For grooms-to-be who are crunched for time, The Prestige Collection also includes pre-set rings that can be ordered, shipped and received within five days.

All rings purchased online from The Prestige Collection are packaged in glossy wooden boxes and shipped via insured mail at no cost to the customer.
