Daniel's launches video gold-receiving service

August 28, 2009

Lynbrook, N.Y.--Refinement Services LLC, the developer of a Web-based gold-buying transaction management platform and a patent-pending video gold-receiving process, has reeled in another big customer, helping 56-store California chain Daniel's Jewelers launch an online gold-buying program.

"We're rolling out the program at DanielsJewelers.com and to serve our 56 retail stores," said Daniel's Jewelers CEO David Sherwood in a press release. "Our customers had been asking if we'd buy their old jewelry and now Refinement Services has made it easy for us to implement a robust and legally compliant program in a very short time."

Refinement Services' video gold-receiving process-- already in use at Kay Jewelers for the Kay Gold Exchange program that launched in July--allows every package of gold received to be videotaped while it is being opened and enables customers to log in and watch online as their valuables are unpacked and weighed.

Chief Executive Officer Neil Kugelman said the patent-pending embedded video that the company offers has provided customers with a high level of transparency and security, and yielded a 97-percent satisfaction rate.

Refinement Services' platform also enables merchants to manage the marketing, shipping/receiving, assaying, payments, inventory and refinement aspects of gold buying.

According to the release, the program is designed with large companies in mind, enabling thousands of transactions to be process on a daily basis.

It integrates with existing Web sites.

In addition to Kay Jewelers and now Daniel's Jewelers, Lynbrook, N.Y.-based Refinement Services provides gold-buying transaction management solutions to Goldspeed.com.

Daniel's has been in business for more than 60 years and its 56 stores are located in southern and central California.
