Birks and Mayors to distribute Damiani brands

Milan, Italy--Damiani S.p.A. has announced a distribution agreement with Birks and Mayors Inc., by which the luxury goods retailer will distribute the Damiani Group's brands in North America.

Based on the agreement, which has a five-year term, Birks and Mayors will initially purchase $10.6 million in the Italian jewelry brand's products, to be paid annually starting Feb. 15, 2010.

The agreement further includes the ongoing replenishment of certain products during the term of the agreement.

In addition, the group's brands will enjoy a "highly visible position" within the Birks and Mayors stores, and the two companies will coordinate marketing plans to support the sale of the Damiani brands.

According to Damiani, the agreement will allow the group to strengthen its position in the North American market. Birks and Mayors operates a network of 65 high-end jewelry and timepiece stores in Canada and the southeastern United States. For the fiscal year, which ended in March 2009, the retailer generated consolidated revenues of $271 million.
