Finlay CEO Reiner resigns

October 01, 2009

New York--Finlay Enterprises Inc. Chief Executive Officer Arthur E. Reiner has resigned, a Sept. 30 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) shows.

In addition, the filing states that Reiner resigned from his position as CEO of Finlay's wholly owned subsidiary, Finlay Fine Jewelry Corp.

His resignations were effective as of Sept. 30.

According to the filing, he will continue to serve as chairman of the board of directors for both Finlay Enterprises and Finlay Fine Jewelry.

Reiner has been chairman and CEO of Finlay Enterprises since 1999, joining Finlay as chairman and CEO of Finlay Fine Jewelry in 1995.

Prior to joining Finlay, Reiner spent more than 30 years with Macy's, which included serving as chairman and CEO of Macy's East (formerly Macy's Northeast) from 1988 to 1994.

New York-based Finlay once operated the licensed fine-jewelry departments in a number of department store chains, including Macy's and The Bon-Ton, as well as a number of standalone stores, such as Bailey Banks and Biddle and Congress Jewelers.

The company, however, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in August.

It announced earlier this year that it was pulling out of the licensed fine-jewelry department business and, unable to find a buyer at auction, is currently in the process of liquidating all of its standalone stores.
