New York—The merging of creativity and business principles will be the focus of the Women's Jewelry Association's (WJA) 4th Annual Women in the Know Conference, to be held March 16 at the Fashion Institute of Technology's Katie Murphy Amphitheater.

The day-long conference will bring together women from all areas of the jewelry industry, and will feature networking opportunities, breakout sessions and a panel discussion with a number of industry leaders.

Judith Ripka, founder and chairman of the board of The Judith Ripka Companies, will be the opening keynote speaker. Since her company's beginnings as a one-woman show, Judith Ripka has grown into a multimillion-dollar business with more than 120 employees, including 105 women.

Two general sessions will follow the opening discussion: Carole Hyatt, author of The New Women's Selling Game, will speak about how smart leaders deliver results; and Greg Furman, founder and chairman of The Luxury Marketing Council, will discuss the ever-evolving luxury market and successful marketing practices.

Following a networking luncheon, breakout sessions will include topics such as maximizing Internet visibility, the benefits of effective networking, starting new business ventures and speaking secrets from world famous leaders.

The conference will close with the "Women of Excellence" panel, featuring past winners of the WJA Award of Excellence, including Julianne Jaffe, vice president of J.J. Marco; Candy Udell, president of London Jewelers; Chris Correia, president of Chris Correia Collection; Tania Riddell, accessories editor for Modern Bride; and Diane Mattioli, sales director of luxury goods for Condé Nast Media Group.

"Women in the Know" is sponsored by the Collectors Universe companies: the Gemological Certification and Assurance Lab, the American Gemological Laboratories and Platinum Guild International.

Advance tickets for the conference are $175 for WJA members and $200 for non-members, and are available at the WJA Web site, Womensjewelry.org, or by calling (856) 423-3156.
