Training sessions helped focus leadership post-acquisition

Leadership training was key to unifying roles after Federated Department Store's acquisition of May Co., Stores.org reported.

Organization Insight—a firm that specializes in strategic consulting, training, executive team development and executive coaching—was one of the companies the newly formed Macy's turned to during its transitional period.

Following the leadership training, an impact study indicated that 96 percent of participants learned something new that they implemented in their work. Approximately 70 percent reported they had seen results.

Sherry Hollock, Macy's vice president of talent and organization development, said if the company goes through a similar transition again, more emphasis would go toward making sure that leaders could handle an influx of new team members.
