Jewelers Mutual names industry-relations director

Neenah, Wis.—Jewelers Mutual Insurance Co. has named Patricia Syvrud, G.G., director of industry relations and market development for its sales and marketing team.

Based in Carlsbad, Calif., Syvrud is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with organizations and members of the jewelry industry. In addition, she'll direct participation in trade shows and events, and handle sponsorship opportunities.

"Patricia is an exciting addition to Jewelers Mutual's outstanding staff," Jewelers Mutual Sales and Marketing Vice President Dan Degner said in a statement. "Similar to Jewelers Mutual, Patricia has focused her career on the jewelry industry, which makes her a natural fit to join our dedicated team. She will help us continue our strong relationships with all segments of the jewelry industry."

Before joining Jewelers Mutual, Syvrud was director of in-kind gifts with the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), where she oversaw a $3 million dollar non-cash program and developed a world-class museum collection. Prior to the GIA, she was under contract to the curator of the National Gem Collection at the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C., as a special projects coordinator. In addition, Syvrud spent 10 years in Brazil where she worked in various areas of the gem and jewelry industry.

Syvrud's background includes studies at the University of New Hampshire, the GIA, Parsons School of Design in New York City and the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil. She will complete her executive MBA program at the University of Southern California in 2008.

She is involved with the GIA Alumni Association and the Women's Jewelry Association.
