Bangkok fair to build on B2B matching service

Bangkok, Thailand—Organizers of the Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair (BGJF) have announced plans to significantly expand the event's business-matching facility, a program that allows exhibitors and buyers to screen each other in the hopes of finding possible partnerships.

In a media release, organizers said that based upon enthusiastic response to the program at the September fair, they will enlarge the scope of the B2B arrangements for the fair's next edition, to be held from Feb. 27-March 2, 2008, to bring in more than 200 overseas buyers and 1,000 exhibitors for talks. Organizers said they will also more than double the exhibition space to allow for more rooms where business meetings can take place.

To begin the matching process, buyers visit an online-sourcing project (OSP), available at Ospgemsjewelry.com, where BGJF exhibitors can showcase their products and services. The site serves as a permanent platform where buyers can reach exhibitors and make contact year-round. The parties can then interact online and, finally, sit down face-to-face at the fair.

"We're doing this to respond to the growing need of the industry, which has told us they found the arrangement very conducive to their business undertaking," Vichai Assarasakorn, chief executive of the BGJF organizing committee, said in a statement.

More than 1,000 BGJF exhibitors, involved in 16 key categories of goods and services, are available for B2B matching on Ospgemsjewelry.com.
