Washington, D.C.—Shop.org has announced that its Cybermonday.com Web site raised more than $107,000 during the holiday season for the Ray M. Greenly Scholarship Fund.

Combined with corporate and individual donations, the scholarship fund has collected more than $120,000 since it was created in January 2006.

"Money from the scholarship fund will be used to identify and provide financial support to students interested in pursuing careers in online retail," Shop.org Executive Director Scott Silverman said in a statement. "In addition, the scholarship commemorates the life of Ray Greenly, a valued online-retail-industry veteran who passed away in 2005."

Santa Clara University's Retail Management Institute received $7,500 from the fund for three $2,500 scholarships, a portion of which was used to fund trips for three students to Shop.org's FirstLook 2007 event in Orlando, Fla., in January. A Shop.org-member committee will now be formed to establish criteria for other universities to receive scholarship funds to distribute to their students.

CyberMonday.com, which offers a one-stop shop for online deals during the holiday season, launched on Nov. 20, 2006. According to Mall Networks, which powers the Web site, consumers spent $3.2 million through the site during the holidays.

Founded in 1996, Shop.org is a network for online retailers. Its 600 members include the 10 largest retailers in the United States and 70 percent of the Internet Retailer Top 100 E-Retailers. Shop.org became a division of the National Retail Federation in January 2001.
