Asia fair to pack in pearl traders

Hong Kong—More than 40,000 jewelers from 140 countries and regions, and more than 2,400 jewelry companies from 47 countries and regions, are expected to converge in Hong Kong for Asia's biggest trade show, the September Hong Kong Jewellery and Watch Fair.

The Sept. 23-29 event, spanning both the AsiaWorld-Expo and the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, represents the biggest pearl trade fair in the world, with more than 870 suppliers and manufacturers featuring pearls.

The fair is also Asia's biggest event for gemstones and for equipment and packaging, with more than 730 traders showing gems of all varieties, sizes and qualities, and more than 130 suppliers featuring new equipment and packaging options.

In addition, more than 1,000 manufacturers worldwide will show a full range of fine jewelry, and more than 720 exhibitors will showcase the latest diamond-jewelry designs. More than 400 loose-diamond suppliers from every major trading center will also be in attendance, organizers said in a statement.
