AGS online holiday ads to register 10,000

Las Vegas—The American Gem Society (AGS) has launched banner advertisements touting the message "Shop with confidence. Shop with an American Gem Society jeweler." on such Web sites as CNN.com as part of its holiday consumer advertising campaign.

In addition, the holiday banner ads offer a free $25 gift card redeemable at most AGS jewelers to the first 10,000 consumers who register online after seeing the ads.

The program, in its second year, was launched on Nov. 7, and has already received 3,000 registrations. Thus far, the banner ad program has nearly tripled the daily number of unique visitors to the AGS Web site, Americangemsociety.org.

"The response to the holiday banner ad program has been outstanding," AGS Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer Ruth Batson said in a media release. "Putting our gift cards into the hands of consumers and ultimately leading those consumers to our retail members is nothing short of remarkable. And, we foot the bill for the entire initiative—including the $25 redemption cost, which is reimbursed to our members."

The holiday banner ad program will run through the week of Dec. 17. Once the 10,000 gift cards have been fulfilled, the banner ads will feature a new call-to-action: a free consumer-protection kit containing information on the benefit of shopping with an AGS jeweler, AGS titles, protecting fine-jewelry purchases, appraisals and insurance.
