Pohlad family purchases J.B. Hudson Jewelers

Minneapolis—Twin Cities jeweler J.B. Hudson Jewelers, established in 1885, has been purchased by the Pohlad family and J.B. Hudson President Jeannie Joas.

The family acquired the majority interest in the firm from the J.R. Cargill family. Carl Pohlad will serve as chairman of the board, while Joas will continue as president and chief executive officer. In a statement, the company said the new ownership team illustrates its commitment to local management of the area's longest standing jewelry store and hopes to build on that tradition and success.

"We are very excited about the Pohlad family's involvement," Joas said. "The Pohlads have been friends and clients for many years, and we look forward to the opportunities this partnership creates."

Pohlad said the family is pleased to be a part of a Twin Cities institution such as J.B. Hudson and to work with Joas, who has lead the company for the past 15 years.

"Jeannie's knowledge and passion for the business helped make Hudson's the brand it is today, and we look forward to continuing that success," he said.

The company has two locations in the Twin Cities metro area. The flagship store is in the Nicollet Mall and another store is in Ridgedale in Minnetonka.
