Herndon, Va.—The American Society of Appraisers (ASA) has named new national and international officers, as well as new members of its gems and jewelry committee, with Jennifer Thornton-Davis leading as committee chair, and John Willey taking the position of international president.

Thornton-Davis, an accredited senior appraiser, is the owner of In Depth Appraisals in Encino, Calif.

Rounding out the national officer positions are Gary Smith, founder and director of the Pennsylvania Gemological Laboratory, as vice chair; Marti Hubbard, operator of her own appraisal office in Tucson, Ariz., as secretary; and Christine York, owner of Christine York Jewelry and Appraisal in Bellaire, Texas, as treasurer. All have accredited senior appraiser status.

In addition to John Willey, a fellow accredited senior appraiser (FASA) and owner of Catawba Appraisal and Consulting in Catawba, Va., the international officers also include Ronald Seaman, FASA, founder and vice president of Southland Business Group in Tampa, Fla., as international senior vice president; and Michael Evans, FASA, president of Evans Appraisal Service Inc. in Chico, Calif., as international secretary and treasurer.

Seven members were also named to the gems and jewelry committee: Vickie Adams of Irvine, Calif.; Tracy Lee Aros of Tucson; David Bowie of San Diego; Monica Caldwell of Tucson; Theresa Newman-Brossmer of La Verne, Calif.; Thom Sorensen Underwood of San Diego; and Nancy Stacy of Walnut Creek, Calif. All have accredited senior appraiser status.

To achieve accredited senior appraiser status, a candidate undergoes rigorous study and training. To achieve FASA status, an accredited senior appraiser must be recognized by the ASA's International Board of Governors for outstanding services to the appraisal profession and/or the society.
