New York—Chopard plans to open a new, larger international flagship boutique at the corner of Madison and 63rd Street in Manhattan this fall, to provide what it calls "a superb shopping environment for the international luxury customer."

The new boutique at 709 Madison Ave. will be triple the size of the current boutique at 725 Madison and will be one of the largest Chopard boutiques worldwide, the company said in a press release issued on Friday.

"It is a spectacular space on one of the most important retail corners in New York City," Chopard President and CEO Marc Hruschka said in the release. "This exceptional environment is certain to encourage and entice customers to discover the many facets of the world of Chopard."

The 147-year-old watch and fine-jewelry company, owned by the Scheufele family, has commissioned renowned architect Thierry Despont, a winner of the Interior Design Hall of Fame, to design the new store.

Despont has been praised for "interpreting luxury and exclusivity in an emotionally resonant way for an upscale consumer," the company said. The new store will be designed to be the perfect backdrop for international consumers seeking the brand's most successful collections, including the Happy Diamonds, Happy Sport, Mille Miglia, and most recently, the L.U.C collection, the company said.
