New York--A buying show isn't complete without a few educational offerings in the mix, and organizers of the upcoming JA New York Winter Show have made sure to keep attendees satisfied on that front.

Available to retailers, press and exhibitors, this year's seminars will be led by top industry leaders offering up tips on how to sharpen one's skills and stay competitive in the jewelry industry.

Beginning on the show's opening day, Sunday, Jan. 18, the educational offerings will kick off with a session titled "When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Take Action!" IAS Training principal Brad Huisken will lead the interactive seminar, speaking on how best to sell fine jewelry in a challenging economic climate. Other benefits include learning how to make your salesperson become the brand.

Additional seminars for the day include "Working with Gemstones at the Jeweler's Bench" and "Quality Control Issues in Jewelry," both led by Jewelry Training Center President Arthur Skuratowicz; "Make Your Store Stand Out," a seminar on presentation techniques and new trends, led by Chippenhook Director of Marketing Andy Macauley; and "If 'I'm Just Looking' Is the Answer, It's Time to Change the Question," a session on bad sales habits," led by Huisken.

Three more seminars will be held on Monday, Jan. 19, including "Selling in Challenging Times," led by Jewelers of America Director of Education David Peters; "How to Sell Jewelry in a Non-Jewelry Store," led by Nielsen Jewelry Group designer consultant Cindy Edelstein; and "Market or Die: How to Grow Your Jewelry Sales in a Challenging Economy," led by marketing strategist Rafael Mael.

Each of the seminars will be presented in the Jewelers of America Learning Center Classroom located on the show floor in booths 1968-2073.

The JA New York Winter Show runs from Jan. 18-20 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. For more information about the show and registration, visit the show's Web site, JA-NewYork.com.
