Martin honored at WJA Awards for Excellence

New York—The Women's Jewelry Association (WJA) held its 24th Annual Awards for Excellence Gala at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan on Sunday night, inducting ABN Amro Bank's Anna Martin into the WJA Hall of Fame.

The annual summer soiree helped get the JA New York Summer Show, which opened at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on Sunday, off to a celebratory start. Cocktails and a silent auction were followed by dinner and an awards ceremony.

Martin, senior vice president and region head Americas of ABN AMRO Bank, has been with the bank for 38 years and has worked with clients in the diamond and jewelry industry for most of that time.

Other winners and their specific award categories were as follows: Designer, Fine Jewelry and Watches: Paula Crevoshay of Mellika Co., Albuquerque, N.M.; Manufacturer, Dealer or Supplier for Fine Jewelry, Gemstones, Metals or Watches: Eve Goldberg, vice president of William Goldberg Diamond Corp., New York; Retail (more than 15 stores): Tryna Kochanek, senior vice president of field operations, Sterling Jewelers, Akron, Ohio; Retail (fewer than 15 stores): Susan Eisen, Susan Eisen Fine Jewelry and Watches, El Paso, Texas; Sales: Janet Goldman, chairman, Fragments, New York; Marketing and Communications: Diane Warga Arias, educator and business consultant, DWA Communications, Pompano Beach, Fla., and New York, N.Y.; Editorial Reporting and Publishing: Kathleen Fitzpatrick, contributing jewelry editor, Veranda, New York; Special Services: Professional Women Serving the Jewelry Industry, Susan Elliott, dean of students, Gemological Institute of America, Carlsbad, Calif.
