New York—JA New York's Special Delivery Show, featuring a cash-and-carry format ideal for jewelry retailers heading into the holiday season, returned to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center at the end of October, boasting a 13 percent increase in attendance.

In a statement, JA organizers said that the timing of the show, held Oct. 28-30, plus the cash-and-carry option has acted as a draw for retailers looking to stock their stores in time for the all-important fourth quarter. Approximately 5,000 were in attendance at this year's edition.

"This was my first time at the Special Delivery Show, and I came because I couldn't make it out to Las Vegas market week, but some of the vendors that I work with show here," said Derek Simpson of Derek Simpson in New Haven, Conn. "I was looking to buy for the holiday and gain insight into what is going to be big, and I was happy with what I found here at the show."

Showing collections to the buyers filling the aisles at the show were more than 400 exhibitors, including international exhibitors from Brazil, Hong Kong, Italy and Thailand.

"We have a lot of success at the JA New York shows and Special Delivery was no exception," said Ron Reiss of Tamuz Inc. "It helped us move our inventory for the holidays, and more than 50 percent of the business we conducted at the show was with new customers. I love the layout of Special Delivery and think the ease of the show also contributed to our increase in sales."

A highlight of the show this year was the new ASD/AMD Pavilion, offering fashion jewelry, accessories, handbags, specialty gift items, jewelry boxes and boutique items.

"We were very pleased with the buyer response and turnout at the JA Special Delivery Show this year," JA New York Group Show Director Drew Lawsky said in a statement. "We are continuing to evolve the show model in response to both retailer needs to fill their inventory with a diverse array of offerings, as well as continue to provide exhibitors with the best exposure to the buyers' market and a positive show environment."

JA's next show, the JA New York Winter Show, will be held from March 9-11, 2008, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. For more information about JA New York, or to register for the show, visit the show's Web site, Ja-newyork.com.
