RJO members 'Rock On' at Fall Buying Show

Newton, Iowa—The Retail Jewelers Organization (RJO) gathered top independent jewelers and vendors from around the nation to its Fall 2008 Buying Show held in Minneapolis.

Held semi-annually, the fall show's theme was "Rock On," playing off of Minneapolis' homage to music greats.

RJO said in a media release that the show brought a whole new meaning to "Rock On," providing an atmosphere and avenue for attendees to get motivated and rejuvenate their passion for the industry.

"We provide a forum that isn't just about jewelry—we want all of our members to have the tools to be good business people in each of their communities," Mary Peterson, chief executive officer of RJO, said in the release. "2008 has been filled with a variety of interesting and somewhat challenging 'opportunities.' All of these situations provide the opportunity for us to make a very important decision...keep a positive attitude or don't."

In addition to networking opportunities, the show also offered seminars and continuing-education opportunities on topics including best business practices, customized marketing and effective jewelry displays.

As for buying, the show provided retail jewelers with the opportunity to purchase jewelry at pre-negotiated prices from some of the most recognized vendors in the industry.
