CRJP names North American director

London—The Council for Responsible Jewelry Practices (CRJP) appointed Catherine Sproule its director of North American operations on Wednesday.

Sproule will serve as the primary representative of the CRJP Secretariat in North America, focusing on establishing and maintaining the organization's relationships with members and stakeholders in the United States and Canada. She will also oversee the management of CRJP's global finances and administration.

Sproule brings years of jewelry-industry experience. Most recently, she served as executive director of the Canadian Jewellery Association, where she represented the association's efforts in the mining and government sectors of Canada. She also developed the Canadian jewelry market's global profile.

Prior to joining the Canadian Jewellery Association, Sproule held positions as the Canadian public relations director for the Diamond Trading Co.'s Diamond Information Center and as the senior director of communications for the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.

The CRJP promotes responsible ethical, social and environmental practices throughout the diamond- and gold-jewelry supply chain, from mine to retail.
