GCAL, AGL to host 'leadership chat' at VNU CEO Summit

New York—The Gem Certification and Assurance Lab (GCAL) and American Gemological Laboratories (AGL) will host an exclusive executive session with business-management icon and author Tom Peters, following his keynote address at the invitation-only VNU Fine Jewelry CEO Summit, beginning Feb. 21 in Atlanta.

Peters is calling the executive session a "leadership chat." Topics to be discussed include inter-generational issues between top and mid management and the challenges of the Internet, said National Jeweler Editorial Director Whitney Sielaff, who heads up content planning for the conference.

Participants in the leadership chat will include chief executive officers and top executives from Borsheims, Christian Bernard, Fred Meyer Jewelers, Hamilton Jewelers, Helzberg Diamonds, Hyde Park Jewelers, King Jewelers, Reeds Jewelers, Sears, Roebuck and Co. and Zale Corp.

"Creating an intimate forum for the heads of the largest U.S. retail jewelers and this dynamic world-renowned icon of business management is 'thought leadership' at its best," GCAL President Don Palmieri said in a statement. "As sponsors, we are delighted to be able to bring Tom Peters to the table with our major retail jewelers."
