Hong Kong—CMP Asia, organizers of Asia's Fashion Jewellery and Accessories (AFJ) Fair, held in September, have announced the show was a success, noting a strong international presence, with more than 70 percent of exhibitors and visitors coming from outside of Hong Kong.

In a statement, organizers said that the annual September show is the only trade fair dedicated to the industry in Asia in the second half of the year, a reputation that has helped to draw exhibitors and visitors from around the world.

For the Sept. 23-26 event, held at the AsiaWorld-Expo, more than 5,100 visitors from 95 countries and regions participated. In addition to Hong Kong and mainland China, the top 10 visiting countries and regions, in order of the greatest number of attendees, were: the United States, India, Japan, Korea, Australia, the United Kingdom, Taiwan, Spain, Italy and Germany.

In addition, the show featured a total of 314 exhibitors from 17 countries and regions. Exhibitors came from Australia, Canada, mainland China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and the United States.

"Feedback from both exhibitors and visitors was very encouraging," CMP Asia Director of Jewellery Fairs Celine Lau said in a statement. "Many commented that the fair was well organized and very professional, and that they planned to join the September AFJ again next year. We are glad to hear their positive responses, not only because they will participate in our next September AFJ, but also because they reaffirm the importance and professionalism of the fair in the eyes of the industry."

The next AFJ fair will take place from March 5-8, 2008, with following editions to be held from June 19-22, 2008, and from Sept. 15-18, 2008. The September Hong Kong Jewellery and Watch Fair, Asia's largest fine-jewelry fair, will run concurrently from Sept. 15-19 at the Asia-World Expo and from Sept. 17-21 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
