Hello Kitty comes to Zale Corp. stores

Irving, Texas—Simmons Jewelry Co. and Sanrio, creator of the popular Hello Kitty brand, have entered into a new agreement to produce an exclusive fine-jewelry collection for stores under the Zale Corp. umbrella.

The collection, "Hello Kitty by Simmons Jewelry Co.," made its debut over the weekend in more than 1,000 Zale Corp. stores, including Zales, Gordon's, Peoples and Mappins stores throughout the United States and Canada.

The collection builds upon the popularity of the original "Kimora Lee Simmons for Hello Kitty" jewelry collection aimed at the luxury market. Pieces in the latter collection include price points in the hundreds and thousands of dollars, while the new collection for Zale Corp. is expected to expand the distribution of Sanrio's jewelry and reach a broader audience.

The collection is aimed at self-purchasing women between the ages of 18 and 34, and features earrings, necklaces, charm bracelets and watches with the Hello Kitty motif. Suggested retail prices range from $150 to $500, with one special piece, the "Lock and Key Kitty Pendant," retailing for $995.

"We are pleased to be the exclusive partner in the launch of Hello Kitty by Simmons Jewelry Co.," Zale Corp. Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer Mary Kwan said in a media release. "This iconic collection will resonate with our fashion-minded customer base."
