CTE Watch Co. handles U.S. distribution for Suunto

Suunto, known for its sport watches, is introducing the new "Elementium" line, which includes the Suunto Elementium Ventus with brown leather strap, which retails for $999.

Ogden, Utah--Suunto, a Finland-based designer and manufacturer of sports precision instruments for training, diving and outdoor sports, is partnering with U.S. distributor CTE Watch Co. to promote the Suunto brand in jewelry and watch stores throughout the Midwest and Southeast.

"It's an excellent fit," CTE Watch Co. President Meir Shnitzer said in an Aug. 11 press release. "We don't have any lines quite like Suunto. Their quality watches complement our existing products and will fit perfectly with our reps."

More than a dozen CTE sales representatives nationwide will be taking in the Suunto brand, but CTE is also hiring new reps just for the Suunto lines. Meir says the new hires will undergo extra training to specialize in some of the more technical aspects of the advanced Suunto watches, which the company describes as "wrist-top computers" that combine the aesthetics and functionality of watches with sport-specific computers.

Suunto Vice President and Business Director Matt Kaplan said the partnership with CTE will benefit both companies and will especially help sales of the new Elementum line, the first high-end timepiece created by Suunto. The premium watches are geared toward the more urban part of athletes' lives ad reflect Suunto's experience in diving, mountaineering and sailing.

Based in Vantaa, Finland, Suunto employs more than 500 people worldwide and distributes its products to more than 100 countries. The company is a subsidiary of Helsinki-based Amer Sports Corp.with sister brands Arc'teryx, Atomic, Mavic, Precor, Salomon and Wilson.
