Concord timepiece named 'favorite' at Grand Prix

Concord's "C1 Tourbillon Gravity" features a tourbillon that is disconnected from the case.

Geneva, Switzerland--A jury of international watch specialists has selected Concord's "C1 Tourbillon Gravity" as "favorite design watch of the year" during the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve, a prestigious competition between high-end watchmakers.

The timepiece was consecrated with the title on Nov. 13 at the competition's prize-giving ceremony.

The C1 Tourbillon Gravity was conceived and assembled in only 12 months, and was first presented during BaselWorld 2008.

The brand says that since the timepiece's debut, the press, the public and the industry have celebrated its complex mechanisms.

As for its contribution to Concord itself, the brand said in a media release that "this horological instrument marks a new milestone in the brand's journey to the heart of technology and engineering."

The hand-wound Concord caliber features a 3.5-day power reserve, flyback chronograph, trust index display and an unusual seconds indicator. Further demonstrating the brand's daring, the tourbillon is disconnected from the case.
