Geneva—Watch manufacturer Richard Mille is the grand-prize winner of the Seventh Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix, an event held earlier this week at the famed watchmaking city's Grand Theatre.

More than 1,500 guests, including well-known collectors and some of the biggest names in the Swiss watch industry, turned out for the Nov. 14 fete, which featured a 3D film celebrating the many facets of Geneva, as well as a prize-giving ceremony. To commemorate the event, each of the winners was also invited to donate an example of their prize-winning watch to the Watch and Enamelling Museum of the City of Geneva.

As grand-prize winner of the Grand Prix's "Golden Hand," Richard Mille was presented with a trophy by artist Roger Pfund. The watch manufacture was honored for its "RM012" watch. Also among the top honorees were Jaeger le Coultre, winning the Special Jury Prize for its "Reverso Grande Complication a Triptyque," and Jean-Marc Wiederrecht (Agenhor SA), winner of the Best Watchmaking Prize.

Cartier and Voutilainen were the winners of the Ladies' Watch Prize and Men's Watch Prize, respectively. Audemars Piguet garnered two awards: the Design Watch Prize for the "Millenary Watch with Deadbeat Seconds," and the Sports Watch Prize for the "Chronographe Royal Oak Offshore Allinghi Team." Hublot and Harry Winston each won awards—Hublot, the Jewellery Watch Prize, and Harry Winston, the Complicated Watch Prize. The Public Prize was won by Zenith for its "Defy Xtreme Open Stealth." Voters for this prize were also entered into a drawing to win one of three watches provided by Chopard, Montblanc and Franc Vila.

Finally, to encourage the watchmaking tradition, an award for best first-year student at the Geneva Watchmakers' School was presented. The winner was Bastien Anderes, who was presented with a watch-tool case gifted by Montblanc as well as an internship with the company.
