Citizen to tap rising sports stars for 'Unstoppable' campaign

Lyndhurst, N.J.—Citizen Watch Co. (COA) has signed two rising sports stars to its "Unstoppable" media campaign. Paula Creamer, Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) champion, and Emeka Okafor, starting power forward for the Charlotte Bobcats, will each personify Citizen Eco-Drive watches in print ads set to launch this season.

COA hopes to connect the "unstoppable" nature of its Eco-Drive watch—which never needs a battery due to its ability to harnesses light, convert it into electrical energy and then store it in a permanently rechargeable lithium-ion cell—with the drive of both Creamer and Okafor.

Creamer achieved her first professional win, the Sybase Classic, before graduating high school, and became the youngest woman ever to win in a multi-round official LPGA event. Okafor bears the distinction of being the first-ever draft pick for the Charlotte Bobcats, and second selection overall in the 2004 NBA draft. Both young athletes also won 2005 "Rookie of the Year" awards in their respective sports.

"Citizen continues to attract athletes who, early in their careers, have proven through their actions to be unstoppable," said COA President Laurence R. Grunstein in a statement.
