Antiquorum sees record auction

New York—Several notable Patek Philippe watches will appear among the more than 300 watches that will hit the auction block as part of Antiquorum's Collectors' Wristwatches, Pocket Watches and Clocks sale on March 28.

The auction will take place at Antiquorum's new headquarters on Madison Avenue in New York City, following viewings in Beverly Hills, Calif., Hong Kong, New York and Tokyo.

Among the highlights of the sale is a Patek Philippe Ref. 5029, estimated at $400,000-$500,000. The self-winding, minute-repeating timepiece is one of 10 limited-edition rose-gold pieces that were created in 1997 to commemorate the opening of the Patek Philippe factory in Geneva.

The auction will also present a Patek Philippe Ref. 5013 (right), estimated at $400,000-$500,000. The rare, platinum, tonneau-shaped timepiece is self-winding and minute-repeating, and has a retrograde perpetual calendar, moon phases and a 48-hour power reserve.

Another Patek Philippe to be offered in the sale is a Ref. 2499, third series, estimated at $300,000-$400,000. The astronomic, 18-karat-yellow-gold timepiece has a round-button chronograph, a 30-minute register, a perpetual calendar and moon phases.
